Marline – tarred string made of hemp

Tarred hemp twine (also known as marline), traditionally made – the high quality original.

Tarred marline was used back in the day for marine applications, knots, whipping and repairing sails. Today marline is used for many other things, such as macrame, binding plants and flowers outdoors, as whipping yarn, gift wrapping string and for decor. The twisted, tarred hemp twine is treated with real tar which means it can withstand moisture and has that traditional, tar scent.
