How to wash your ropes

A slightly cheaper way to make the boat look whole and clean is to wash your ropes. Look how easy it is!

You need

  • Dirty rope
  • Washing bag
  • Mild detergent

There is a lot you can do to extend the life of your ropes. An easy way is to wash your ropes and take them in during the winter season. We recommend adding “rope care” to your list as the fall approaches and the boating season is over. All ropes you have on your boat can be washed, whether it’s mooring lines/docking line or sheets.

This is how you wash your ropes:

  • Divide the ropes by color to avoid discoloration
  • Try to wash in batches so it doesn’t get too heavy for the machine
  • Put the ropes in a cotton bag
  • Use a mild detergent or mild soap
  • Wash at 30 degrees

All ropes benefit from being washed after each season. This makes the rope last longer and you can use it over several seasons.
