Clove Hitch
Clove Hitch
Clove Hitch is one of our favorite knots. Thanks to its simplicity, it is also very popular both on the boat and in other leisure activities. Clove Hitch is simple and reliable and can advantageously be used to attach a rope around a post or in a mooring ring. This knot is also great to use around a bollard or when mooring your boat in a natural harbor. Most people have probably used this knot to tie the fender lines to the boat’s railing.
Clove Hitch is a strong and very useful knot that is equally popular on land and at sea. The knot is easy to adjust and untie when it is no longer needed.
However, it is important to keep an eye on it. Under heavy load, it can become hard to loosen and difficult to untie. And if the knot is unevenly loaded or changes direction, it can come undone.
