Protect your boat with a boat cover from Toptex Boat Cover
This revolutionary boat tarp takes boat protection to a whole new level. With its superior quality and unique features, Toptex Boat Cover is the perfect choice for boat owners who want to give their boat the best protection during winter. 3 years warranty included.
Ventilating boat tarpaulin for best protection
One of the biggest innovations of this boat cover is its breathability. It allows air to pass through and thus prevents moisture from accumulating under the fabric, eliminating the risk of mold formation and protecting the boat from moisture damage. Some water will penetrate, and then evaporate again thanks to the breathable properties. This keeps your boat dry and protected in all weather conditions.
The ventilation also means that the canvas stays quiet and calm and does not rustle in the wind. This means it won’t blow apart like a traditional tarpaulin tends to do.
Lightweight and easy to handle
Toptex Boat Cover has a significantly lower weight than traditional tarpaulins. The grey Toptex Boat Cover weighs 160 grams per square metre. A canvas of 10 x 14 metres (140 square metres) weighs about 22 kilos. A traditional heavy PVC tarpaulin of the same size weighs around 70 – 80 kilos. This large difference in weight makes Toptex Boat Cover more manageable and easy to install.
Environmentally friendly and recyclable
Toptex Boat Cover is made from 100% recyclable polypropylene, making it a more sustainable alternative to traditional boat covers. PVC covers often contain harmful chemicals such as vinyl chloride and phthalates, which can have a negative impact on people, animals and the environment. By choosing Toptex Boat Cover, you are contributing to a more sustainable future for you, your boat and the environment.
Efficient water drainage with the right slope
To ensure effective water drainage, it is important that the fabric is properly stretched and has a slope of at least 45 degrees. For good stretching and anchoring, we recommend using Velcro (Velcro or double-sided Velcro) to anchor or hang weights.
There are several different ways to fix your boat tarpaulin. As mentioned, it is important that the canvas is always stretched and has a slope of at least 45° to allow water to drain away better. Since the cloth has a fuzzy surface, you can advantageously attach Velcro directly to the cloth without damaging it or the Velcro. You can use this to, for example: Create loops that you then hang weights in to let the canvas hang freely. This is the ultimate if you want to be able to get under the boat and eg. Bottom paint, without having to remove the tarpaulin.
You can also fold the cloth under the boat and attach directly with Velcro or tie rubber bands or other ropes to the Velcro to attach under the boat or in eg. a trailer. Scroll a little further down to see illustrations of how you can proceed.
Comparison: Fleece cover vs. Toptex Boat Cover
A standard fleece cover is very different from a Toptex Boat Cover. Fleece covers are often made from uncontrolled fibre yarns, which provide less UV protection and a shorter lifespan. They also tend to bind water, which can lead to moisture and mould damage. Toptex, on the other hand, uses a structured manufacture with endless fibre threads that provide both strength and ventilation, extending the life of the tarpaulin and providing more reliable protection for your boat.
What is the difference between this tarpaulin and a traditional one? There are several differences:
Toptex Boat Cover | Traditional tarpaulin |
Ventilating | Non-ventilating |
Lets moisture water evaporate | Traps moisture water |
Low wind catch | High windbreak |
Quiet and calm in windy weather | Rattles and blows apart easily |
Lightweight super strong | Often heavy and bulky, or lightweight with poor quality |
Can be recycled | Not recyclable |
What is the difference between this tarp and a bale cover? There are several differences. Toptex cloths are of much higher quality when it comes to abrasion resistance, UV resistance and durability. It doesn’t crumble, and if there are holes in the canvas, it won’t get any bigger. Toptex Boat Cover is further developed to suit the boating life, counteract moisture and mold damage and last for years. A bale covering cloth of another brand quickly shows mould and moisture damage and begins to crumble after just a few months. If there is a hole, it will quickly become larger, unlike a Toptex cloth, which has a virtually non-existent damage spread. A bale covering cloth is not recommended for boating. The canvas has been tested on several boats during the fall and winter season with several storm winds, where the result has been consistently incredible. The tarpaulins were basically untouched. This is thanks to its highly durable construction, and its ventilating function. How does it cope with snow? As long as the canvas is at an angle of at least 45 degrees, both snow and water slide off. The steeper the angle, the better. Should any snow get stuck on the canvas, it will run off when the snow melts. How do you anchor this boat tarpaulin? There are several different ways to anchor. But regardless, you will need a cover rack of any form to create a slope of the canvas of at least 30 degrees. This is to get an efficient drainage of water. To anchor, we recommend using Velcro, which you advantageously attach directly to the fuzzy surface of the canvas. The Velcro can be used to fasten the cloth under the boat, or to create loops with. Either to hang weights in, or to attach ropes to which you tie under the boat. Scroll down to see illustrations and an instructional video. Is the boat tarpaulin waterproof? Some water will penetrate the fabric, only to evaporate again thanks to its breathable properties. This keeps your boat dry and protected in all weather conditions. Unlike a traditional tarpaulin, which traps moisture and water because it cannot breathe in the same way. How does it work if you have a mast, targa booth, antenna or other protruding from the boat? No problem at all! The canvas is excellent to cut / splice to adapt to your particular boat. Then you seal it with Velcro. Here you can see how we spliced the canvas to a sailboat with a targa bow. What does the 3-year warranty mean? We guarantee that the fabric will work for at least 3 years, even if it is exposed to UV light 365 days a year. Thus, if you only use the cloth during the winter months, you can more than double the service life. Please note that if the cover develops holes due to sharp edges or similar causes, this is not covered by the functionality guarantee as it does not constitute a product defect.
