Our popular StormX mooring line is a real hero when it comes to keeping your boat safely moored. StormX is an elastic mooring line where the entire rope is elastic and the braided cover is made of 100% polyester. The mooring line is also maximally UV-treated to last many seasons on your boat. The mooring line with a difference!
Thanks to the elastic properties of StormX, boat owners do not need extra shock absorbers. The rope has a braided appearance, a patented seam at the eye, secured rope end and double wear protection (one in the eye of the rope, and one adjustable along the line). The adjustable protective sleeve allows you to protect your mooring line where it is often subject to chafing and other stresses. Thanks to these features, you get a very affordable and durable mooring line, which is well suited for fixed mooring or in natural harbours. The rope sinks in water.
The difference between StormX and Storm?
The only difference between StormX and Storm is their appearance. As mentioned earlier, the StormX mooring line has a braided appearance. This may make it a little more comfortable to handle. The StormX mooring line is also available in more colours. The traditional three-stranded Storm mooring rope is easier to splice. The shock absorption is the same, as is the breaking strength. Both lines work as fixed moorings and in natural harbours.
Do not over-dimension the rope
It may feel unfamiliar to not need such a thick dimension on your mooring line. StormX is very strong, which means you can usually choose a lower dimension. Perhaps it feels scary? But you can rest assured. In fact, an oversized mooring rope will cause the rope to have the opposite effect and may be perceived as mute. An elastic mooring line needs the weight of the boat to work. If the size of the rope is too large, it will not feel like there is a boat attached at the other end, and the jerk of the boat may feel harsh. The mooring line will not be able to utilise its soft flexing abilities. Remember, too, that if the forces are enormous, the dock and fittings will probably be broken before the rope breaks.

Add a mooring compensator below 50 cm rope length.
If the line is shorter than 50 cm between the boat and the dock, we recommend adding a Bungy mooring spring. This is to help the rope to flex in an optimal way. If the rope is longer than 50 cm between the boat and the dock, it will have more room to flex on its own and you won’t need to buy an extra shock absorber.
