Although polyethylene has a relatively low tensile strength, the fibre compensates by having a high resistance to abrasion. Its UV resistance is outstanding and absorbs minimal moisture, making it ideal for outdoor use.

However, do not use in temperatures above 80°C, as this may affect performance. The polythene rope has an elongation at break of about 20%. This means it will give a little before breaking, which can be advantageous in some situations.
